Dr. Edward Bednar Scholarship Winners

The Derby/Shelton Rotary Club and the family of the late Dr. Edward Bednar established the ninth Rotary Scholarship in honor of Dr. Bednar in 2011. He was a long time member of the club and very active in supporting its mission. He served as President of the Club during the 1970-1971 Rotary year.
Dr. Bednar was particularly interested in Rotary's student exchange programs, and his daughters all participated in the program. Dr. Bendnar's wife Peggy and three of his daughters were on hand to present the very first award to Samantha Heins.
Dr. Bednar's scholarship in the amount of $1,750 is available to a graduating student at either Derby or Shelton High School with a preference to a student pursuing an education in the health care field.
