Rotary Announces 2026 Scholarships

Winning students are flanked by the members of the Rotary Scholarship Committee.

The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club is pleased to announce the winners of its annual scholarship program for Derby and Shelton High School students. Scholarship Committee Chair Ed Sheehy announced the awards at the weekly club meeting on May 28 at the Brownson Country Club. All of the winning students were in attendance along with their proud parents and administrators from both schools. Watch for more pictures later.

Each of the awardees gave a quick update at the meeting highlighting their experiences and the colleges they will be attending next year.

The members of the committee in addition to Ed Sheehy were Rotarians Rosemary Allen, Pat Carey, Lucy Andrade, and Kim Caro as well as administrators Jen Moffet of Derby High School and Lisa Sapienza Girard of Shelton High School.,

Committe Chair Ed Sheehy and Rotary President Lucy Andrade flank winners Cassie Silkoff, Quilan Gray, Syndell Cooper, Victoria Lee,Danielle Russon and Ava Bottone. Charles Pereira was not able to attend.

The Derby-Shelton Rotary club announced the winners of its 2025 Scholarship Program at a luncheon attended by the winning students, their parents, and school administrator held at the Brownson Country Club. There were seven presentations made at the event totaling $22,000:

Shelton High School

Derby-Shelton Rotary Four-year Scholarship – $8,000 – Victoria Lee

Derby-Shelton Rotary President Scholarship – $1,000 – Ava Battone

Derby-Shelton Rotary Scholarship In Memory of the Deceased Rotarians – $1,500 – Charles Pereira

Derby-Shelton Rotary Scholarship $1,500 – Danielle Russo

Derby High School

Derby-Shelton Rotary Scholarship Four-year Scholarship – $8,000 – Cassandra Silkoff

Derby-Shelton Rotary President Scholarship $1,000 – Quilan Gray

Derby-Shelton Rotary Scholarship $1,500 – Syndell Cooper

Ed Sheehy, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee congratulated the students and thanked the members of the committee who had the difficult task of reviewing the large number of applications received this year and making the decisions on the winners.
