Members of the Derby/Shelton Rotary Club had a different kind of meeting on Thursday, May 11, 2000 when they packed a box luncheon, boarded a bus, and traversed the Derby & Shelton segments of the Valley Heritage Driving Tour. Each member of the club also received a copy of the brochure and map produced as part of Healthy Valley 2000's efforts to promote the quality of life in the Valley.

Rob Novak, Executive Director of the Derby Historical Society, served as the tour guide during the Derby part of the tour and had his audience spell bound with tidbits of history related to the oldest town in the Valley. When the group reached the Derby/Shelton Bridge, Pat Sweeney of the Shelton History Center took over and regaled the crowd with stories of Shelton's farming and industrial past.

You do not have to be a Rotarian, live in the Valley, or event visit the Valley to take the tour and share in the same history that the Rotarians enjoyed so much. Simply click here to take the "virtual" on-line tour of the Valley.
