How a Rotary AMBER Alert Child ID event works.

A child’s parent or guardian fills out a form with the child’s name (the child’s name will not be printed on the cards), date of birth, hair and eye color, any identifying birthmarks or scars, and medical or allergy conditions. The parent/guardian also signs the form to give consent to create the card and store the child’s information in the national secured database.

Once the form is filled out, the child’s weight and height are measured and recorded.

Then the information is entered into the database along with the child’s photo which is taken. Also the parent/guardian’s electronic signature is captured.

Within minutes an AMBER Alert ID card is printed.

The first card is free, and additional cards are $2.00 each. It is suggested that anyone involved in the day to day care of the child carry a card in their wallet.

Any card fees or donations collected are used to help pay for the equipment and cards, ink etc.

It is also suggested that the cards be updated annually at any Rotary AMBER Alert Child ID event held.

To find an event go to the Danbury Rotary Club website www.danburyrotary.org

Soon there will be a website listing events statewide.
